Wedding photographer in Amsterdam
Starting at the fabulous hotel Droog in one of the nicest hotel rooms, or actually a loft, you will see in Amsterdam. Eveline started with her preparations. Accompanied by her mom, sister, bridesmaids and some friends there was a nice slow pace in getting ready. As the sun came peeking through, the atmosphere started to grow and laughs were all but absent. Note to all brides: make sure you plan enough time for preparations. Preferably a bit too much 😉 Adjusting the make up? Changing hairstyle? Burning a bit of skin with the hair straightener 🙂 ? These women just laughed and shook it off. Plenty of time!
So here was the groom, together with all the friends and relatives waiting downstairs for Eveline and the 2 bridesmaids. Things got real now 🙂 After the first look at the base of the stairs we headed outside for the first of two photoshoots. While tourists filled the streets an the rain started making place for sun and warmth, we walked down some streets, did some shooting and had so much fun. Time was apparently flying and so we rushed back for the wedding ceremony.
Wedding ceremony in Amsterdam
The wedding ceremony took place in this beautiful white room inside the hotel. It could not be more perfect. Guests were all there, spirits were way up, so we could get started getting married for real. The ceremony was mainly filled with speeches from best friends of the wedding couple. One by one their stories were interesting, emotional and fun. Note to all wedding couples: add friends /relatives to the ceremony speeches, in addition or apart from the wedding officiant, for guaranteed success.
Relax – Cocktail time
After the official part, things got uplifted by the sis and dad speeching, as well as the nice weather and uhm, drinks 🙂 Some group shots of course and little cakes (looked like Magnum) as well. It was all good. We then changed location for diner and the party. And not just some venue, it was the The Amsterdam Museum! It could not be more central Amsterdam and more Dutch than this one. Surrounded by works of the great Dutch golden age painters the guests settled at the Amsterdam Museum for more relaxing, socializing and cocktails. In the meanwhile the wedding couple and I hanged out some more to do the second shoot.
Second photoshoot – late afternoon
At this time Amsterdam was a little less crowded by tourists so we decided to visit some true Amsterdam hotspots. And not just any form of transportation…we did it on bicycle taxi’s 🙂 A smart thing to do in Amsterdam. We settled for nothing less than The hermitage and the famous Magere Brug. Note to alle wedding couples: Why not split the photoshoot and take some pictures in the morning as well as some in the late afternoon or evening when the light is at it’s best? Spread your chances…
Eat, speech, rave, repeat
Time to eat. Again some magical speeches from relatives and friends here. Impossible to hold in laughing out loud, Steven and Eveline were treated on a memorable, emotional and hilarious ride of words. I don’t know how they did it, but it was as if these people speeched for a living. Definitely the best way to mix with a nice diner.
And then a nice surprise. After a hilarious slideshow Steven and Eveline made their re-entrance for the late night party, and you could not notice Eveline showed up in a stunning new outfit. Gone with the white dress, out came the awesome bodysuit to meet all the black ties. Of course nothing less than awesome dancing could finalize this incredibly nice wedding day.
As a wedding photographer in Amsterdam I could not have wished for more on this day. Every possible element that completes an awesome wedding was here. I enjoyed this day and all the people very much and I am thankful I could be part of it somehow.
